WHAT'S GOING ON?

Mixpo, a Facebook Marketing Partner, recently published a report entitled, “The State of Video Advertising.” And I probably don’t need to provide you with the following spoiler alert: The subtitle of the report is “Facebook’s Rise to Dominance.” The company surveyed over 125 U.S. agency, brand, and publisher executives to gain insight into their plans and views related to video advertising on Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Tumbler, Vine, Google+, Snapchat, Pinterest, and other social media sites and apps.

SEE JUST HOW BEAUTIFUL A VIDEO CAN REALLY BE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThFCg0tBDck

This is such a beautifully produced video it's really a 'must watch'. Granted most of the beauty comes from the beautiful country being filmed - but this is a great example of how video can embellish and make nature even more breathtaking than it already is. Enjoy. (Make sure you watch in HD)

WHY BRANDS SHOULD MAKE THE MOST OF ONLINE VIDEO

David Black - Google Director of Branding

Choice', 'engagement', 'authenticity'. These are the terms that stood out at this year’s inaugural UK Digital Upfronts. We are in the midst of a new age of creativity, for content creators and for brands.
The power of video advertising and the possibilities of the medium came across loud and clear through the week. Video advertising spend on the internet and mobile phones increased almost 60 per cent year-on-year, reminding us again that advertisers are looking to reach consumers in new ways. On YouTube, viewership is growing at 50 per cent year-on-year and over one billion fans now visit the platform every month.
And the Digital Upfronts showed that the UK continues to be at the forefront of innovation. The week built on the tradition of TV Upfronts which provide advertisers with an advance view of the season’s programming. Here in the UK, the Digital Upfronts, organised by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), provided a platform for media owners, technology companies and content creators to showcase their creativity and innovations. The events highlighted the importance of digital advertising and its impact on brand awareness and on purchasing decisions.

WILL YOUR ARREST VIDEO BE GOING ONLINE!!America is rushing to outfit cops with cameras, but even experts aren’t sure of the laws regulating the storage of the videos they capture—or determining who exactly has access.

In the aftermath of Ferguson, where the death of an unarmed teenager sparked weeks of protests, police departments across America are outfitting their officers with wearable cameras.  The devices themselves raise plenty of legal and privacy questions, but ever bigger issues loom about what happens after they are shut off.
Police departments are already outsourcing their video evidence to private companies, creating problems so knotty and new that even the ACLU doesn’t have answers for them. Among them:
        • How long will evidence be stored, and how will police departments verify the information has actually been wiped after its supposed deletion date?
        • Will federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies like the FBI and NSA need warrants and subpoenas to view the digital evidence in private companies’ cloud storage? And will they deal with local police departments or go directly to the private storage services?
        • Will the public get to see the police footage, for example, when there is evidence of misconduct?
        • What happens when a private company’s server is hacked and evidence is lost or compromised?

NEW VENTURE TO RIVAL NETFLIX AND HULU.

AT&T and an investment firm run by former News Corp. executive Peter Chernin have formed an online video venture that could rival Netflix and Hulu.
AT&T Inc. and Chernin Group said last week that they have committed more than $500 million in funding toward the venture. They are not saying how much each company is investing.

The move comes amid rapid growth in online video services. AT&T, a telecoms giant, already offers TV content through its U-Verse service, which competes with more traditional cable TV providers. With online video, though, it could attract customers of Netflix, Hulu, YouTube and other services – including people who’ve stopped paying for traditional broadcast, cable or satellite TV.

Detective Inspector Rob King, head of the Derbyshire Economic Crime Unit said: “We have been working alongside our partners to raise awareness of frauds and scams as part of our forcewide Stamp out Fraud campaign.

“Recently we have had an increase in reports of suspected courier fraud, but thankfully there are steps that we can all take to protect ourselves from the crime.
“This includes never giving out your card details, PIN or bank card to anyone and ending any suspicious calls immediately before reporting the incident.
“By spreading the message we can aim to stamp out fraud and protect more people from falling victim to the crime.”

“In January 2014, 190 million Americans watched 75.6 billion videos online. That’s more than 60% of the entire us population.”

If you include a video in your next email, there’s a 96 percent greater chance the recipient will click through. Also, when someone looks you up online, they’re more likely to click a video link than a text link.
This information comes from a new video called, “Show Me Something,” created by Shutterstock with data from comScore. The video explores the growing world of online video, and it contains a number of interesting stats that could pertain to your company’s video marketing strategy.

Most Shocking Second a Day Video

A BRUTALLY POWERFUL FILM

This is an advert by Save the Children and another example of how powerful video can be when telling a story. The video coincides with the build up to the third anniversary of the Syrian crisis, which has left 100,000 people dead and 2 million more as refugees.

Seeing this little girl bear the brunt of the violence is a powerful way for the issue to resonate with the public a little closer to home.

On-screen text at the end reads: "Just because it isn't happening here doesn't mean it isn't happening."
